Howard beat Pujols last year because he hits the long ball... a lot. But when you compare things like average with runners in scoring positon, strike-outs, and pure average, the answer is obvious. Who can slap a hit when it is needed is not as exciting as who can get 3 RBI's in monstrous fashon when already leading by 4 runs. There is also the sensational factor.
