A quick Google search indicates that different organizations claim today’s holiday as (a) Washington’s birthday (in which case, “President’s Day”), or plural “Presidents’ Day,” with either the interpretation of (b) “Washington and Lincoln,” or (c) “all presidents.” Apparently, at the Federal level, it is technically still (a), though Nixon issued a proclamation making it (b); but the public, no doubt following advertisers’ lead, mostly believes the reference to be (c). I have added a spam-catcher program. There is always the danger that a normal comment will be falsely identified. Therefore, for a while anyway, any comment that you put a bit of effort into, please remember to make a copy of it and if it doesn’t make it through, let us know by e-mail.

An interesting read today from Hal Turner.
It goes without saying that there are some theological errors, but there is also a lot of truth that few have the courage to say today.
The US Dollar Index is at an all-time low. And with no fundamental or technical support it is going to go down further. Indeed, the FED has given up on the dollar. That is why it recently cut the prime lending rate a half a point and will probably lower it again in a few months.
Jim Rogers and Clifford Bennett argue that the dollar’s status as the world’s reserve currency is over. If they are right, you had better move your dollar denominated investments somewhere else.
Gold is trading at just under $770. Though this seems high, we are witnessing just the beginning of a bull market. Next year it could be $400 higher. Silver is an even better bargain at under $14.
Buy both, especially silver.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger just signed a bill that prohibits the use of the terms “mom and dad” and “husband and wife” in California’s public schools. The law also allows boys to use girl’s restrooms and girls boy’s restrooms.
In Portland, Maine the School Committee approved a plan to pass out contraceptives in middle schools. Now children as young as 11 years old will have access to condoms and birth control pills.
Some will view these programs as another example of the failure of the government schools. But just the opposite is the case. Government schools were never meant to educate. Their purpose is to create stupid, pliable, and sexually perverted “citizens” who question everything except the authority of the government. And they are doing a smashing good job of it. Just look who the government school-educated Christian leaders are endorsing for President.
Read The Underground History of American Education if you don’t believe government schools have always had this agenda.

Christian Incrementalists never tire of telling us that when it comes to election time, we should follow the principle of choosing the lesser of two evils. This principle constitutes the major premise of their syllogism which always concludes that we should vote for the leading Republican candidate. The minor premise is, of course, Rudy, Mitt, and Fred are less evil than Barack, John, and Hillary. Indeed, the premise is actually much stronger. Rudy, Mitt, and Fred are good while Barack, John, and Hillary are bad. (more…)
There are many dates that are full of meaning for Americans. July 4, December 7, and November 22 each mark pivotal events in our history. When historians write about the downfall of America (which is coming sooner rather than later) 911 will be seen as the pivotal date. It will not be seen as the beginning of the end, that goes back to the 1860’s if not June 21, 1788, but as the beginning of the end of the end. (more…)
My colleague will be back… I’m quite sure. But here, we can see the basic problem. (more…)
No, I am not talking about the 4th of July. My sentiment is directed to I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, Jr. (”Libby” is allegedly a shortening of Liebowitz). We all know the story of Libby’s deeds, trial and sentencing so I won’t bother you with the details. The important thing is that Scooter is free! By a stroke of his Commander-in-Chief’s pen, Bush commuted all of Scooter’s jail time. Though this was not a pardon, so we need to get too carried away in our celebrations and toasts, it was the next best thing. Anyway, take my word for it, the day will come soon. No later than January 2009. (more…)

This quote is from Keith Olbermann on the October 12 broadcast of MSNBC’s Countdown. The reason the current regime does not want to build walls or place troops at the U.S.-Mexico border is that there is no U.S.-Mexico border. At least there is no border in their mind. And their ideas may soon be our reality. (more…)
With the current Republican pedophile scandal and cover-up dominating the headlines, you may have missed what happened last week. On Thursday, September 28, Congress passed a law that effectively destroyed the Bill of Rights. The name of the bill that killed it sounds benign enough, “The Military Commissions Act of 2006.” But with its passage the last vestiges of our constitutional republic disappeared. (more…)
1. Every airport is perpetually undergoing major renovations.
2. In the past, check-in was usually a disagreeable experience due to the surly agent awaiting you behind the counter. But at least she was a homo sapien. Now you have to deal with a surly automated check-in machine.
3. The routine physical by the family doc in a closed room can be a bit embarrassing. The routine strip search conducted by the TSA thugs in an open arena is psychological torture. (more…)
